In Indonesia, the standard version of this motorcycle, which comes in yellow, is also rumored to have come in a special "Go" Valentino Rossi version. In 2021, one of its owners, Bagus Qodaryansyah, intended to sell his Yamaha 125Z collection for IDR 125 million (about USD 8,700). He previously bought it from someone for IDR 90 million (about USD 6,300).

In 2000, this motorcycle was released in Indonesia through Yamaha, which at that time did not use PT Yamaha Music Manufacturing Indonesia but was still named PT Yamaha Motor Kencana Indonesia.
CBU, the Yamaha 125Z at that time was imported fully from neighboring Malaysia. The name 125 is attached to the approximate cubic capacity of the engine, which is 124.33 cc, with 1 cylinder.
Its standard power is 17.2 HP at 8,000 rpm with a peak torque of 16.1 Nm at 7,500 rpm.
